May 2019 Key West Fishing Report

The fishing has been on fire lately! Lots of variety in the backcountry, but most importantly – TARPON! There are a lot of tarpon starting to move through as they should for their migration. Every day is different with the numbers we are seeing in certain spots, but overall there are a lot of fish around.

Some of the channels we are fishing for tarpon in, have mutton snappers, yellow jacks, jack crevalle, sharks, barracuda, snapper, and more! Sometimes we get into a nice side catch to tarpon, when fishing for them. The spring time weather is definitely here to stay. Warm weather and mild wind conditions make it easy to get around on the water and see what’s out there. We still have some days where we get a little bit of rain or higher winds when a weather system is moving through, but it doesn’t stay very long. There are some rare open days in May still, so book your trip ASAP.
