These fishing charters are about 3 hours long, which is an ample amount of time for kids to bend some rods and see some of the Key West species.
Species on this trip can include:
- Mangrove, lane, and yellowtail snappers
- Many types of grunts
- Porgies
- Mackerel
- Jacks
- Ladyfish
- Sometimes sharks!
Kids Fishing and Family Fun trips are offered for a stress free, laid back excursion. These trips are designed to introduce kids to fishing, or keep them entertained. The charter will be focused on fishing in areas that provide variety and action, versus size.
This adventure can be customized to do some sight seeing and/or dolphin watching! It all depends on how you want to spend your time on the water or what we have time for.
You can always extend the day if we have time in the schedule to do so. The reason that the trip is offered at 3 hours is to provide a nice and easy trip for the kids to enjoy, without being on the boat for too long! It really all depends on your kids’ experience level and attention span to the excursion. Some kids can last longer on a boat, and some less.
Provided for the trip is the same as the other charters that we offer. Bottled water and ice will be in the cooler, fishing licenses are not needed on the boat, and you do not need any tackle. It is recommended that if you have a child under 6 that you bring their own lifejacket that they like. They will be provided but sometimes kids like to wear their own.
Rule from Florida Fish and Wildlife: A child under the age of 6 must wear a USCG-approved Type I, II or III personal flotation device while onboard a vessel under 26 feet in length while the vessel is underway. “Underway” is defined as anytime except when the vessel is anchored, moored, made fast to the shore or aground.
